I always remember Lake Huron being very cold, but it was quite comfortable. It may look overcast from the shot of Nuno and I, but I actually had a bit of a spell on the beach where I overheated and needed to take a break from the sun!

OK, so the real reason we were in Pittsburgh this past weekend was for Wayne & Lili's wedding. Wayne is a friend of Nuno's from high school who left Canada for school at U. Mass. It was there where he met Lili. Since Lili is originally from Pittsburgh, the wedding was held in town at the Heinz Chapel.
Nuno was in the wedding party and he did an amazing job. The wedding was beautiful and very formal.
This is the reception site, The Pittsburgh Athletic Club. This building is very old, with loads of history and very well appointed.
During the reception Wayne sang his proposal song to Lili for us called, The Question. Super sweet.
Other than the thrill of the wedding, running into Zachary "Sylar/Spock" Quinto was a highlight. Too bad I went to bed early and didn't get a chance to meet him. But here's our friends posing with him.
One plan we had was to visit the Dor-Stop. Nuno and I heard about this place on an episode of the Food Network show Diner's, Drive-In's and Dives. I get a kick out of this show because it relates to my sensibility of dropping yourself into a new city and finding hidden jems specific and special to the area you are visiting. We always said that if we had a chance to check out a place that looked decent from the show we should. Dor-Stop appeared on an episode called What's for Breakfast.
The Dor-Stop are known for their breakfasts, specifically Hot Cakes! They make so many flavour combinations that, after watching the episode, I immediately wanted the banana walnut hot cake. But then I was also tempted to try the pumpkin. Once there, I finally decided on the Banana Chocolate Chip!
Nuno doesn't eat sugar, but the episode also featured something called Jumbots. I always called this a breakfast scramble. It included eggs, ham, onions & peppers. He really liked it and unlike the pancakes, we could totally remake something like this at home.

I immediately went to check the availability of this item, and, what do you know, it's limited! Only one location in WNY carried it. I called this Target location and they had one left. I'm thrilled - we're picking it up tomorrow!
After having market fresh yellow zucchini at Leslie's birthday party over the weekend, Nuno and I were inspired to visit the market yesterday for fresh produce. This time of year is the ideal time to buy all your produce at market. I swear, you can never find yellow zucchini at regular supermarkets, but at the farmer's market you sure can. Anyways, this is my favourite way to eat zucchini and gnocchi.
Tot seems to have an anything goes attitude up here. She's making the most of her vacation by walking on the boardwalk, swimming and boating. She's into it all!
She met a St. Bernard on her walk along the boardwalk yesterday. Big meets small. She also has friends next door, a Jack Russell and Vishla along with Timmy's new chihuahua, TURBO!
The sound and speed of the boat didn't seem to bother Tot. Even the spiders didn't phase her.
Yeah, she may never want to go home.
I'm blogging right now on the beach of my family's cottage in North Bay. We're having a great time up here, I really wish it wasn't so far away.
Tot's claimed this lounge chair as her own. She much prefers to spend the day in a chair - not laying on the sand like any other dog.
Or better yet - shaded and cuddling with Nuno.
Here I am happily looking pregnant. Maybe I'm pleased because I was able to fit into my swimsuit for this week at the cottage.
But the deals for children were totally out of this world. I usually only see a couple of cute outfits while shopping for the baby at Babies R' Us and Old Navy - but the prices just make you wince. Well, at this outlet we found Osh Kosh and Carters - the goldmine of adorable baby clothes, all discounted way over half off. All three of us loaded up on enough clothes that will get the little one through to the age of 1. Over 50 outfits including sleepers, onsies, tees, pants and sets. I bought an old man inspired sweater and plaid pant set for his formal Christmas visits, Katie bought summer outfits and swimwear for his first trip to our family's cottage next summer and a special bib for his first birthday. It's such an exciting time for us.

This weekend was a long one for us opting to work Canada Day and take Friday instead. We were super busy the whole weekend, but yesterday was the most eventful day. We went to Nuno's family reunion BBQ at Bronte Creek. We had a great time. Not surprising, being an expectant mom at a family reunion is fun because of all the excitement of a new family member on the way. Everyone wants the scoop and recent parents offer fantastic advice.
Hot Tot came along with us. We just made the decision to buy a doggie seat belt for her instead of using her crate. It was a disaster at first since she pulled a Houdini and shimmied herself out of the harness, but once I gave it a good tighten she was stuck in place. She found herself quite comfortable and relaxed.
Here we are in the way home from the family picnic. Hot Tot was quite the hit!
Now that we know Tot can travel in a seat belt we feel more comfortable about our weekend purchase. We bought our baby a stroller / car seat combo. We traveled with the car seat set up beside Tot and it looks like it will work out perfectly - which is a giant relief.
Last night we held a Michael Jackson party. Katie organized the party as part of her Incredibly Strange Movie nights she's been feverishly holding.
I started out baking Black or White cookies from the Martha Stewart Cookies book. But we decided to also assemble a cake in honour of MJ modeled after his famous glove.
The fingers are twinkies and the palm is a store bought pound cake.
I iced.
Nuno dragee dropped.
It turned out great!
