Wayne & Lili's wedding

OK, so the real reason we were in Pittsburgh this past weekend was for Wayne & Lili's wedding. Wayne is a friend of Nuno's from high school who left Canada for school at U. Mass. It was there where he met Lili. Since Lili is originally from Pittsburgh, the wedding was held in town at the Heinz Chapel.

Nuno was in the wedding party and he did an amazing job. The wedding was beautiful and very formal.

This is the reception site, The Pittsburgh Athletic Club. This building is very old, with loads of history and very well appointed.

During the reception Wayne sang his proposal song to Lili for us called, The Question. Super sweet.

Other than the thrill of the wedding, running into Zachary "Sylar/Spock" Quinto was a highlight. Too bad I went to bed early and didn't get a chance to meet him. But here's our friends posing with him.

Christina & Emanuel's Wedding

We attended Christina & Emanuel's wedding this past Saturday. It was a slightly drizzly and overcast day, and I only note this because Christina can't stand the heat and humidity - so the weather on her day was perfect!

This was my favourite moment of the entire day. Ever since he was young, Emanuel sang in the St. Micheal's choir (the Catholic mass that you see televised on Canadian television). After signing the register the St. Micheal's men's choir sang. It was beautiful and gave us all chills.

The wedding was full Portuguese - the first in a very long time. You know what that means? A Midnight Seafood Buffet! If you haven't experienced this type of wedding - I'll explain to you. After having a dinner of soup, salad, fish, chicken, beef and dessert - rows of tables are placed out at midnight with piles of lobsters, crabs, shrimp, codfish croquettes, mussles, suckling pig, pasteries, desserts, cakes - and of course, wedding cake. It's over the top.

Christina and Emanuel have been together as long as Nuno and I, just short of ten years. Emanuel and I were the staples at every family function for a long time now. Man, Christina & Emanuel are one of those marriages that everyone's been waiting so long to see. They are so happy and perfect for each other.

Miguel & Marcie

Nuno's brother, Miguel was married this weekend. He is the last of Nuno's siblings to get married with all three boys getting married in under a year. They were married at the most beautiful old cathedral style church in downtown London with a reception at a country club just outside of the city.
The floral arrangements were so goregous! I just can't stop looking back at these photos.

Instead of a wedding cake they had a three tier pasties de nata display. See the most burnt one on the bottom? That one was mine!

I get so weepy at weddings and this was the first I was able to keep it together. Then came the first dance to Cat Power's 'Sea of Love'. It was so sweet and definetly my favourite moment of the night.

Marcie and Miguel just left for their honeymoon to San Francisco today! It is just the beginning of a happy life for them together.
